New Forum for Contests and Giveaways
Facebook has announced that they are no longer going to allow bloggers and publishers to post about their giveaways on the social network. I think that sucks. So, I’ve just created a brand new forum called the Wanna Win Forums as a place where those who are holding giveaways can still have a place to post away.
Now at the moment, this is still a work in progress and I’m sure it will take me some time to get anyone to join up. But I’m hoping to make this forum a place where anyone who has a blog and hosts giveaways will have a good time and can feel at home. There are also categories for those who have online stores and need a little extra exposure and can even tell others about things they have one sale.
I’ve also added a section for various freebies from around the web and a place where you can step in and introduce yourself and a place where we can all just sit and discuss the topics of the day. I have some other ideas for the place, but I kinda want to step back and see if anyone joins up first. LOL
So you are all cordially invited to my new site. Tell us about your giveaways or your shop, or find some places that you didn’t know existed before. In time, I hope this is a place where we can all have fun and win some cool stuff.
Follow Me Back Tuesday
Happy Tuesday to one and all. I’m thrilled that I get to be involved in another round of Follow Me Back Tuesdays. I did this last week on one of my other blogs, but I think this week I’ll be promoting this one. Why???? Just cause. I used to the the Follow me Fridays, but I think I like this one a little better. Not because of anything major, just because Tuesdays are better for me schedule-wise.
So, how does this thing work??? Just like the other one did. You go check out and follow the 4 hostesses on the list at the McLinky party. I’ll post the hostesses here, just to make it easier. You also need to follow the person in the number 5 position, which this week is Mommy of One…..And Counting. (Congrats honey).
Next, you need to add your name and blog site to the list. I’ll post that list here as the code doesn’t mess this blog up like it does my Blogger blog. Once your name is on the list, start watching for others that will come in and follow your blog. Be nice and follow anyone back that follows you, and go check out a few of the other blogs on the list and follow them. After all, that’s what this is all about. Also, remember to leave a comment with anyone and everyone you follow. That way we know you were here.
Now, like on my other blog, instead of just saying hi to those who follow me, I’m going to go one step further and do a little write up about the people that follow this blog for this week. Depending on how many follow me, I may have to do more than one post. Last week, I got like 14 followers and it took quite a bit to talk about everyone in one post. Hey, I’m not opposed to doing more than one. (Hint, Hint). LOL
Anyway, let’s get this party started. HAPPY TUESDAY AND HAPPY BLOGGING!!!!!
Wet-Dry Flat Iron Giveaway
How often to you use a hair straightener??? Me, all the time. I was “blessed” with naturally curly hair and I HATE it. Growing up in the 80’s, it was cool having big hair. But even then I wanted the Marcia Brady straight hair look. My hair wouldn’t do anything that I wanted it too and there were a lot of time that it was all I could do to keep from shaving my head bald.
Then came a really cool invention called the Flat Iron, aka, hair straightener. I used to use my curling iron as a straightener so this was the coolest thing I’d ever heard of. Problem was that I was well into my 30’s before I could afford one. Now, I have about 3 of them, but they’re all inexpensive models that only last about 6 or 7 uses before they just don’t straighten my hair as well as they should. I’d love to have one of those nice ceramic types, but there’s no way I can afford one of those right now.
Then I saw this killer giveaway at Mommy Living the Life of Riley. She’s giving away a beautiful Avanti Wet-Dry Nano-Titanium Ceramic Silver Digital Flat Iron from the cool people at FlatIronExperts.com. I love this flat iron as it can be used on either dry or wet hair. And with my hair, that’s a major plus. I’d much rather get it done while still wet, than have to try and blow dry it as straight as possible, then use a flat iron on it to get it even straighter. It takes forever and there are a lot of times that I just don’t bother and wear my hair up so no one can see it.
If you’d like a chance to win this cool flat iron, run over to Mommy Living the Life of Riley and get in on the giveaway. Mandatory entries are pretty easy. You only need to choose another flat iron from FlatIronExperts.com that you’d like to have and become a Google Friend on the Mommy site. From there, she’s got a ton of other ways to gain entries into the giveaway so there are a lot of chances to win. This contest ends on August 20th, so get your entries in now.
American Express and Cheerios
Well hello to one and all. Sorry that I’ve been gone so long, but life just jumped up and grabbed me. This has been the fastest summer ever and I don’t see it slowing down anytime soon. The reason is that I went back into the real world work force and I’m not used to that. LOL
Anyway, since I have a little down time I thought I’d jump in and tell you all about a really cool little giveaway from the nice lady at Busy-At-Home and the awesome people at Cheerios. They’re giving away a free box of Cheerios AND a $25 American Express gift card. It will not only keep your heart healthy, but will help make your wallet happy.
I grew up on Cheerios and am an avid Honey-Nut Cheerios eater. Personally, I think they’re the best. But the company has been coming out with all kinds of new flavors, including chocolate and banana-nut flavors. Might have to give that second one a try. And, according to their Facebook page, they may be coming out with a strawberry flavor very soon. Yes, I would definitely buy that one.
So, head on over to Busy-At-Home and get in on this awesome giveaway. The mandatory entry is choosing which Cheerios recipe the site owner will do a step-by-step instructional post on. Choose the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cereal Bars—–PLEASE!!!! Ok, choose the one you want, I just think those sound the best. LOL
More stuff coming soon, I promise.
Look at all those crafting books
I know I said I’d be back in just a few days, but you should see what I’ve been doing. I’ve been so busy with my quilting projects and reading all my new crafters’ magazines that I’ve completely lost track of time. What felt like a couple of days has turned into a few weeks. LOL. Time really does fly when you’re having fun.
Anyway, my wonderful mother-in-law was kind enough to give me a whole tote full of fabrics, 2 boxes of ribbons, and a huge bag of lace. But the biggest prize in my new lot was the whole box full of crafting books and magazines she gave me. My mother-in-law is as craft crazy as I am, maybe more. And though she has 3 daughters of her own, none of them are really into the whole crafting thing. So, I get all her crafting hand-me-downs. Whoo Hoo for me. LOL
As I began going through this box full of books, I was shocked to see just exactly what I had in my hands. She gave me books and magazines that go back to the late 40’s-early 50’s. Here are a few pics I took just to prove how cool my mother-in-law really is. She’s awesome!!!!!
Craft Works, Pack O’ Fun, and Family Circle magazines
As you can see, this one was issued in 1969 and only cost 20 cents
This is a huge pile of Crafting Traditions magazines from 1996-2003
2 books published in the 60’s on how to recycle things you already have around the house. And you thought the whole Reuse/Recycle thing was a new idea. LOL
A massive needlework book from McCall’s-Fall/Winter issue for 1964-1965-it cost a whole 60 cents.
And now for my favorite
This is a book that my mother-in-law put together herself when she was in college. It’s full of little character drawings from the 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s. It’s so cool.
From food and drinks
To scenes of various emotions.
Needless to say, I’ve had a ball the past couple of weeks. I’ve found a ton of ideas to work with, some of which came from days gone by and I’ve come up with ways to give them a modern twist. Now, if I could just finish one whole project, I’d be doing great. LOL
