New Forum for Contests and Giveaways

Facebook has announced that they are no longer going to allow bloggers and publishers to post about their giveaways on the social network. I think that sucks. So, I’ve just created a brand new forum called the Wanna Win Forums as a place where those who are holding giveaways can still have a place to post away.

Now at the moment, this is still a work in progress and I’m sure it will take me some time to get anyone to join up. But I’m hoping to make this forum a place where anyone who has a blog and hosts giveaways will have a good time and can feel at home. There are also categories for those who have online stores and need a little extra exposure and can even tell others about things they have one sale.

I’ve also added a section for various freebies from around the web and a place where you can step in and introduce yourself and a place where we can all just sit and discuss the topics of the day. I have some other ideas for the place, but I kinda want to step back and see if anyone joins up first. LOL

So you are all cordially invited to my new site. Tell us about your giveaways or your shop, or find some places that you didn’t know existed before. In time, I hope this is a place where we can all have fun and win some cool stuff.

One of my favorite giveaway sites is Mint Green With Envy (who btw has a killer new blog theme happening). Somehow this lady manages to offer some of THE most gorgeous items for her giveaways and this one is no different. She is giving away a large yellow and white striped tote from Bayan Hippo.

I’d never heard of this shop before this giveaway, but I fell in love instantly. It’s a handbag/tote shop and I love these types of items. I make my own totes, but not like these. In fact, the main entry into this giveaway is to check out the site and leave a comment on MGWE as to what your favorite item is. That’s when I found this beautiful Frilly Bag In Black.

There are a lot of ways to enter this one, but checking out the sponsors site is mandatory. This giveaway ends on April 27th and the winner will be drawn on the 28th. Pampered Rose Gift Set Giveaway

I love fragrances. I love body sprays, perfumes, colognes, Eau de Toilette’s, and smelly goods of every kind. My favorite scents are woodsy varieties. Musk (especially), sandalwood, that kind of thing. I like some florals, but not the fru-fru kinds. And vanilla is NOT my fragrance. I love it, it don’t love me. But I found a giveaway that might be just right.

Over at Candid-Cleaver-Cost Effective, you can enter to win a gorgeous Lilac body scents set from Pampered Rose.com. Lilac’s happens to be one of the floral that I do like. I have a Lilac bush in my front yard and love the aroma that floats around it each spring. And according to the Webmistress at CCC, this variety of Lilac perfumes smell closer to the real thing than any she’s ever encountered. However, she did say that she wasn’t impressed with the extract.

Wet-Dry Flat Iron Giveaway

How often to you use a hair straightener??? Me, all the time. I was “blessed” with naturally curly hair and I HATE it. Growing up in the 80’s, it was cool having big hair. But even then I wanted the Marcia Brady straight hair look. My hair wouldn’t do anything that I wanted it too and there were a lot of time that it was all I could do to keep from shaving my head bald.

Then came a really cool invention called the Flat Iron, aka, hair straightener. I used to use my curling iron as a straightener so this was the coolest thing I’d ever heard of. Problem was that I was well into my 30’s before I could afford one. Now, I have about 3 of them, but they’re all inexpensive models that only last about 6 or 7 uses before they just don’t straighten my hair as well as they should. I’d love to have one of those nice ceramic types, but there’s no way I can afford one of those right now.

It takes forever and there are a lot of times that I just don’t bother and wear my hair up so no one can see it.

Well hello to one and all. Sorry that I’ve been gone so long, but life just jumped up and grabbed me. This has been the fastest summer ever and I don’t see it slowing down anytime soon. The reason is that I went back into the real world work force and I’m not used to that. LOL

Anyway, since I have a little down time I thought I’d jump in and tell you all about a really cool little giveaway from the nice lady at Busy-At-Home and the awesome people at Cheerios. They’re giving away a free box of Cheerios AND a $25 American Express gift card. It will not only keep your heart healthy, but will help make your wallet happy.

I grew up on Cheerios and am an avid Honey-Nut Cheerios eater. Personally, I think they’re the best. But the company has been coming out with all kinds of new flavors, including chocolate and banana-nut flavors. Might have to give that second one a try. And, according to their Facebook page, they may be coming out with a strawberry flavor very soon. Yes, I would definitely buy that one.

Friday Follow 2-26-10

Time once again for Friday Follow. This is my second week and from what I witnessed last week, this is the coolest idea of the century. When I posted my Friday Follow last week, I was blessed with my first follower within minutes of adding my name to the list.

So here’s how it works. Check out the list below. Follow the first three names on the list, as this is their ballgame. Then, add your site to the list of others and start picking out a few here and there to follow. Be sure to let anyone you follow know that you’re from the Friday Follow game so they’ll come by and follow you in return. The cool thing is that this list is brand new every week. Even thought there are hundreds of sites on the list, you have to go in and rejoin each week.

You can follow as many blogs as you want, and can do so all week long. However, you can only add your blog/site on Friday. As of tomorrow, you can’t add your site until next Friday. Then, we start all over again. It’s so much fun. But my favorite part of the whole thing isn’t in finding new blogs, it’s in meeting new people.

My First Win

Have you ever wished Monday mornings would just skip your house and move straight on to Tuesdays? Yeah, me too. On a normal week, I’d hate Monday morning. But that all changed today when I got up and realized that I’d won one of the giveaways I’d entered. Talk about a shock to the system. For the first time in I don’t know how long, I was thrilled that Monday morning had come around.

The giveaway was through a site called The Lost Earring and this was a killer giveaway. Not just one or two prizes and/or winners, but 7 winners, 7 giveaways, and prizes from 7 different shops. I wrote a post about the giveaway on one of my other blogs and then didn’t think much more about it. Friday Follow Blog Hop

I’ve spent the past 3 or 4 years working in the blogging industry. Not the “blog for fun” game, but the “blogging for dollars” one. And I have learned a thing or two about making money from my blogs. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that it’s totally boring. But, the real trick is getting people to follow your blog. No readers means no dollars. It also means that everything you do is for naught.

Then, I decided screw it, I was going to do my own thing on this site. I didn’t care what happened, didn’t care about PR scores or SEO wordings, keywords, none of it. I figured that if I was going to spend all my time blogging, I’d blog about something I enjoyed, or that totally burned my backside. Then, I found the wonderful world of giveaways and contests. Well, ok, that’s not exactly true. I’d already found them, but finding my way back to them gave me a whole new inspiration to achieve.

I’ve had a ball the past few weeks finding new giveaway and contest blogs. I’ve listed most of them on my other blog, ChristineSenter.com. But, I thought I’d go ahead and list a few here. I love this blog, and it was originally supposed to be a review blog. But, I tried so hard to make it SEO precise and perfect that I lost interest. I’m so glad I came back to it. Especially now.

As I’ve been finding a few of these giveaway blogs, I’ve noticed a cute little button on some of them. It linked to a blog hop called Friday Follow. I wasn’t sure it was something I wanted to get in on, but today I changed my mind and said what they heck. Maybe it’s because everyone else in my house is gone and the quiet gave me the nerve, or maybe it’s because I’m a social creature and wanted to be part of something bigger than myself. Oh who am I kidding, I crave attention and that’s why I did it. LOL

Now for the kicker. I hadn’t even posted the link to my blog for a full 5 minutes when I had my first follower. Thanks Katrina for making me see that I’d made the right choice. I may not get anymore followers, but you totally made my day.

So, how does it work you ask??? I’m glad you did. Here’s how it goes. First of all, you check out the list of other bloggers on the McLinky list. Next, follow the first three blogs on the list as they’re the sweethearts who put this thing on. Nice ladies, the whole lot of ‘em. Then add your link to the list and see how many others follow your site. Follow a few others on the list as it really does something for the mind to know that someone out there is following you. And not in a creepy bad way like at the mall or something. It’s a good feeling. However, there are more than 400 links on the list, so take your time and really check out the blogs.

There are a lot of people in the SEO industry that will say this isn’t the right way to gain followers. I say, um, well just imagine me giving those people the raspberries (or the bird). Anytime you can become part of a group, go for it. And for any mommy bloggers out there reading this, this is a great opportunity for you. It’s a way to network, find new ideas, and you might even make some new friends.

I’ve been tip-toeing through the wonderful world of blog giveaways and contests, but mostly on one of my other blogs. Truth be told, that’s what this blog was originally intended for, but then I ended up making this my “anything goes” blog. But, when I came across the Fairy Blog Mother, I had to post about her and her site here. Why??? Because I’m pretty sure she and I were related in a former life.

Anyway, this is about one of the giveaways she’s got going on at her blog right now. Our Fairy Blog Mother, aka Annette, is going to give one of her lucky readers a gorgeous Crystal T-Shirt of their choice from Sparkle Plenty. I went over to check out the site and they’ve got some of the most beautiful t-shirt and tank tops I’ve seen. They create beautiful appliques with Swarovski crystals for all kinds of shirts. They also make jewelry and temporary tatoos with the crystals. I totally fell in love.

The giveaway is for the crystal t-shirt of the winners choosing, but I’d have to go with the one found on Annette’s site. Being a Boy Scout leader, I’ve got a thing for the Fleur de Lis motif. That and it’s always reminded me of the Three Musketeers (the one with Kiefer Sutherland in it…LOL). So, in the off chance that I might actually win this contest, I’m going for that t-shirt.
