No matter how hard you try to work with teenagers, they will always think you’re an idiot.

I am the mother of 2 teenaged children. I have a son who is 18 and about to graduate high school. He is starting to get out of the whole “my parents are morons” stage. However, I have a 15 yr. old daughter who is pretty much convinced that her father and I are out to make her life hell. We’re not, but she’s sure that we are. You know, we do all those violent, vicious things to make her life hell like making her clean her room, do her homework, and limit her time on the computer. What rotten parents we are.

I’m hoping that by the time she turnes 18, she’ll understand that we’re not trying to ruin her life, but I don’t know if I can last that long. I can tell you one thing, raising a son is way easier than raising a daughter. Boys aren’t nearly as dramatic as girls, though they do have their moments. I’ve heard a lot of parents say that girls are cleaner than boys, and that’s a load of crap. I tell my son to clean up his room, and it’s done in a matter of a few minutes. I tell my daughter to clean up her room, and 3 days later it’s worse than when the fight started.

Everyday I live with my daughter, I have way more respect for my parents. My poor daddy had 3 of us girls in the house, though my older sisters lived outside the home as teenagers. Oldest sister lived with grandmother, and middle sister lived with her biological mother. But still, when we were all home for any length of time together, I’m sure my father felt the need to hurt something. LOL

Ok, I think I’m done ranting about my daughter now. At least until she comes back into my room trying to find another excuse as to why she can’t get her room done. then we get to start all over again.

OMG, I can’t believe it’s a whole new year already. Funny thing is that it doesn’t feel any different than the old one. LOL. Ok, that was bad, but what the heck. I swear if I had to hear one more person tell me “see you next year” today, I was gonna smack someone. LOL. I hate that. It gets so old after awhile, and yet i hear it every bloody year.

I have to admit, my kid came up with an original one tonight. She came out and said, “Mom, I have a serious sleep deprevation problem. I haven’t slept since 2008.” At least it was different. Had to give her credit on that one. she’s kind of a smartass, don’t know where she gets it from. LOL

So, I’ve seen a lot of people posting their goals for the new year all over the net. My goal is to make through another year without hurting someone. Not really, I just don’t get all freaked out on setting goals. Especially ones that last for an entire year. I do have some goals in mind for this year, but I’ll just try and take them one day at a time. I’m revamping the format of The Prompt Writer. I just hope I can keep it up on a regular basis. I’ve seen so many people that post on their blogs each and every day, sometimes several times a day. There is nothing wrong with that, it’s just that I have a life outside my computer, so I don’t post as often as I should.

Plus, there’s the fact that I have 5 blogs that I maintain on a regular basis, so it’s hard to keep them all up to date all the time. On top of that, I write for several other people, and those are paying jobs, so they take presidence over everything else. Well, everything except my family. They always come first. 2 teenagers and a hubby of 18 years can really put a crunch on one’s blogging time. LOL But that’s ok, I wouldn’t trade any of them for the world.

Well, I’m off to bed. I’ve rung in the New Year, posted on most of my blogs, and managed to help a friend with some of his things. I think it’s been a rather productive evening. Besides, I can’t get any work done during the daylight if I don’t get to bed. and I have a lot of plans for the first day of this new year. Not that I’ll actually get anything done, but it sure sounded good. LOL

Night all and Happy New Year.
