We’re a year old

Well, this is proof that time flys when your not paying attention.  Yes boys and girls, today is the first birthday of The Sapheyerblu Review.  The bad part is that I almost went and missed it myself.  I don’t keep this blog up nearly as much as I should, but then again, I never thought I’d be where I am in blogging today.

It was a year ago today that I published my first post on this blog.  Honestly, I really had no idea what I was doing, or if it was ever going to lead to something.  I just decided that with all the people out there doing this whole blogging thing, there had to be something to it.

I really never thought I’d be as into blogging as I am today.  I currently run 5 blogs, and write for several others.  If someone had told me a year ago that I’d be this into it, I’d never have believed them.  Boy howdy, if I’d only known.

I’ve learned a lot about the blogging game over the past year.  I’ve met some of the coolest people on Earth, and I’ve even gained a little notoriety in the process.  Well, ok.  Not a lot of notoriety, but there are a few out there who know my name.  LOL

It’s been a hell of a year, here’s to hoping for a lot more to come.

Tired Of All The BS?

In only a few short days, this blog will celebrate it’s first birthday.  I can’t believe that it’s been a year since I started this blog, but you know what they say, time flys when you’re blogging your brains out.

I really began blogging because of a friend of mine from Australia known as the Blog Sire.  this Aussie is so cool, and runs several blogs of his own accord.  Well, my favorite Aussie has created a new blog with an interesting title.  His new blog is called “What A Load Of Bullshit“.  It’s a great blog that really takes the time to look at all the BS in the world.

He doesn’t just talk about the popular stuff, he digs down deep and finds stuff that most people would probably never hear about.  But most of all, he doesn’t pull any punches.  He tells it like it is and doesn’t makes any excuses or apologies for it.  He also tries to put a humorous spin a few of his stories, which is pretty cool.

Everyone talks about all the BS going on in the world, but very few people really take the time to examine it.  Sire does that and more on his new blog, and has created some very interesting conversations in the process.  It’s nice to see that someone out there is bold enough to step up to the plate, take a long hard look at the world and say, “What A Load Of Bullshit”.

Save Money on Advertising

I can’t speak for everyone, but I know that buying advertising spots in some of the bigger blogs online isn’t even an option.  I’m a poor kid, and can’t spend a bunch of money to get my site noticed.  Most of the bigger bloggers want anywhere from $20 to $500 for a month’s worth of advertising on their sites, and that isn’t even an option for me.

Well, that’s about to change.  Garry Conn has just released a new advertising option for those of us working class bloggers.  He’s one of the only A-Listers who stops to think about the fact that not everyone has unlimited funds for advertising and is currently offering one of the coolest advertising deals I’ve seen to date.

Right now, you can get a 125×125 graphic ad on his site for only $5.95 a month.  That’s about the same as what you’d spend at a fast food resturant.  On top of that, he’s got a whole range of advertising options to choose from, giving you a better chance of getting your site or product seen.  The best part about this deal is that Garry has more than 700 subscribers to his site, so you’re chances of getting noticed are way above average.

Check out all of Garry’s advertising options.  There’s a little something for everyone here, no matter what your advertising budget entails.  I opted in for the package #2, and am already glad I did.

Using Article Directories for Extra Content

Even though nobody really uses the term anymore, we still live in the age of the “Internet Superhighway”. A friend of mine used that term the other day in a post, and I had to laugh as I hadn’t heard that term in so long. However, that term means more now than it did in the past.

One thing I’ve learned in the past year as a blogger is that content is king and people crave information. Doesn’t really matter what kind of information, as there’s someone out there looking for the few tidbits that you already know.

I’m quickly finding out though, it’s not always easy to come up with something that will appease the masses in their never-ending quest for knowledge, so what can a blog owner or webmaster do to fill in those gaps when genius refuses to unfold? Try using one of the various article directories online.

Article directories are a great place to find just the right words to fill in your empty spaces. Some article directories charge a small fee for the use of the articles, but many of them only ask that you either create a link to the directory site, or the author’s site, and always give credit to the person who wrote the article.

Now, that being said, there are a couple things to watch for when using article directories. Be sure to read the whole article before deciding on whether or not to use it on your site. You might even type the title into your favorite search engine and see how many other people have used that same article. For all you know, it could already be splashed all over the place.

Another thing to watch for is spelling and punctuation. Just because an article is listed on a directory doesn’t mean it’s void of errors. Even if you tell the world that so-and-so wrote the article and you had nothing to do with it, it’s still on your site and will still come back on you. If the article only has a couple of errors and you’d really like to use it, you might contact the author and let them know and see if they have a problem with you fixing the typos. Remember, this is still their work and should be treated as such.

As a blog writer, I know how hard it can be to come up with something creative each and every day. It just doesn’t happen. But, if you need something to throw in every once in a while, check out a few article directories and give an aspiring writer a chance at a little exposure.
